“Lucky only has three legs, and is still willing and able to use the Litter Kwitter. We've put a step near the toilet so that he'll be able to climb on to the toilet seat without risking a fall.
Lucky had his right front leg removed by a vet after he was thrown from a moving vehicle when he was about six weeks old. We were in the car behind this vehicle - we didn't get its number plate because we didn't realize what had been thrown out of the window until we got close to him. In any case, he fully recovered following his surgery and is now locked in a struggle for the affections of his
mother with our four-month-old son. We've had a number of litter-related 'accidents' with Lucky over the years, but he seems to be adapting well to using a real toilet”

StarStarStarStarStarNo StarLove it!
- LOVE your product. I've had trained cats for years and find myself with only one cat now and she's new and not trained. I've used different techniques to train 4 different cats over the years.

I want to get my hands on the Litter Kwitter ASAP for the newest member of our household.

We live in Washington State in the USA. I definitely believe in the beauty of the toilet trained indoor cat. “Fabulous. I'm soooo looking forward to the end of the litter box”
Cheers,

“Hi Debnroo,

We got our Litter Kwitter last week and because I had already prepared Jay (our Blue Burmese) by having his litter in the bathroom we were able to put the Litter Kwitter on the toilet after a day or so.

So far so good and my partner Billy thinks you are a genius!

I have to say Jay is a bit obsessive about his business and spends a good amount of time covering it up and in the process he tends to make quite a mess, but we do see light at the end of the tunnel thanks to the Litter Kwitter.

I look forward to sending you the photo's of each stage of his training, he is a very clever wee kitten and he is only 13 weeks old so we are quite happy to take our time in the training and make sure he is very comfortable with every step.”

Regards (very grateful kitten parents)

“My partner is not so sure but after I made him watch the DVD, which is fantastic and love the
bloopers at the end....I was wondering what happened to the toilet roll, he is more open to the idea!
Thanks for inventing such a wonderful device and allowing us to have a cat without the mess. You have just brought pet ownership closer for so many who were put off by litter! Well done and good on you”

“I am so proud of my other boy, last night while cleaning the orange tray, Toby jumped up onto the white litter kwitter rim and peed, usually when the cats are sniffing around while I am cleaning the tray, I push them away, worried that they may take a huge leap expecting the tray to be there and fall in, scaring themselves and never coming near it again. It was not until Toby had finished that he realised that it was a bigger hole than usual, but he was not fussed. Maybe I shouldn't try to shoo them away while cleaning anymore and let them investigate a little more”

“I’m very pleased to announce that both my cats (Lucy age 8 and Clyde age 9) have been successfully using the toilet for over a month now!! We have even gone as far as to throw our old $70 litter house away. After only 8 weeks our household has become a litter free zone. Thanks to the Litter Kwitter now there is a queue for the loo Thanks again Litter Kwitter, your system has been like a breath of fresh air”!

At Oz Catz, we specialize in breeding Ocicat kittens – the leopard look-alike with the pussy-cat personality - and Burmese kittens.

As one of our primary goals is to advocate and encourage responsible cat ownership, the ability to offer our Oz Catz kittens as virtually human toilet trained was a natural progression for us.
We were therefore delighted to incorporate the Litter Kwitter Cat Toilet Training System into our kitten-raising program. In doing so, we have added value to our kittens as Litter Kwitter trained cats save time, energy and money for the cat household and for the community in general.
Oz Catz clients, predominantly from suburban homes and apartments were initially fascinated with the concept of a ‘no litter’ house cat.

They are now increasingly seeking Oz Catz Litter Kwitter trained kittens for their household companions.

Toilet training of our Oz Catz kittens was made easy by the simple addition of Litter Kwitter to our kitten-rearing routine.
Litter Kwitter is truly an innovative approach to responsible cat ownership.

So you own a cat, you've seen Meet The Parents, and really wish that you could get your cat to use the toilet. Well, with the Litter Kwitter, you can!!! You can amaze your friends and family and get rid of that old smelly litter box for good!

The Litter Kwitter allows you to train your cat to use a human toilet in 8 weeks or less. Through a series of small changes in their behavior, cats will learn to use the toilet naturally. By using a 3-step red, amber, green process, the Litter Kwitter will lead to a litter-free home. This product is totally reusable time after time.

How does it work? Cat's instinctively bury their waste to hide the smell from predators in the wild. By depositing their waste in the toilet water the smell is hidden even better leaving your cat one happy kitty. Litter Kwitter uses a three step process.

Stage One takes approximately 2-3 weeks. You start by putting the white seat form near the toilet with the red training disk inside full of litter just like a normal litter box. Later you clip the unit onto your toilet teaching your frisky feline to hop up and use it on the toilet.

Stage Two also takes approximately 2-3 weeks and uses the amber disk. The amber disk contains a small hole in the middle and is surrounded by litter. Your cat learns to balance on the insert. The location of the hole teaches the cat where to place his feet while moving it's rear end over the hole. With this stage your cat will experience going into the water for the first time.

Stage Three uses the green insert. The hole in the green insert is larger and teaches your cat how to lean properly and go directly in the toilet while correctly balancing it's paws on the seat. With this stage your cat will no longer need litter and you get the excitement of a litter free home! No more smells and germs!! Eventually you remove the Litter Kwitter completely and the process is complete! Now if you could only teach your Cat to flush!

The LITTER KWITTER® was developed with PhD Animal Behaviorists and has been endorsed by animal welfare organizations including the RSPCA.

Question:

Question (10.28.08): What is the Litter Kwitter?
Answer (10.28.08): Litter Kwitter is the Original World Famous Cat Toilet Training System, made famous by Wilson! Cats the world over admire Wilson and want to be just like him, using the toilet instead of a litter box.
Question (10.28.08): What does the Litter Kwitter do?
Answer (10.28.08): Litter Kwitter will gradually teach nearly any cat to perch on the toilet seat to…you know…do their business directly into the bowl. All the parents have to do, then, is flush and Voila! No mess, no smell, no yucky clean up required – and that is great regardless of whether you are a regular everyday house cat or a famous spokescat like Wilson.
Question (10.28.08): How does the Litter Kwitter work?
Answer (10.28.08): It is ingenious! Litter Kwitter starts next to the toilet with a seat device and a red plastic disk full of litter so your cat knows what it is
Question (10.28.08): What do I actually get in the box when I buy Litter Kwitter?
Answer (10.28.08): Litter Kwitter comes with a universal base plate (a special kind of toilet seat that fits all standard toilets), the three training disks (red, amber and green), a comprehensive instruction booklet plus a 30-minute DVD with step-by-step training directions you can see. And it comes with subtitles in English, Japanese, French, German and Dutch!
Question (10.28.08): What is the Litter Kwitter made from? Can it hold the weight of a big cat?
Answer (10.28.08): The Litter kwitter is made from the same material as a Firefighter's Hard Hat - it's about as hard and stiff as plastic can get. It wont bend, flex, crack, split or move no matter how large your cat is. If you had a lion at home then it would have no problems using the Litter Kwitter - it's really THAT strong! So, if you have a large cat that weighs 20-25lbs (10kg) the Litter Kwitter needs to cope with 60-75lbs (30kg) in weight to support the cat jumping onto it. Fortunately, the Litter Kwitter copes easily with this. Some other products are made from the same plastic as disposable coffee cups and might not cope so well...
Question (10.28.08): I have more than one cat. Will I be able to train them all ?
Answer (10.28.08): The Litter Kwitter can train more than one cat at a time, but you don't want to let it get too crowded up there. It's best to use more than one Litter Kwitter if you're blessed with many cats - you can use them on separate toilets or even place the Litter Kwitter on a tray of water or some similar container. The key issue with training more than one cat is that they can sometimes progress at very different paces. If you only have one Litter Kwitter we have developed a kit called the MultiKatKit - it's a kit for multiple cats (duh!) which can help more than one cat train at the same pace. It's basically a pack with additional training discs that you use with the Litter Kwitter to smooth out the transitions from one stage to the next to make it easier for all the cats to move on together.
Question (10.28.08): How long will it take to toilet train my cat using the Litter Kwitter?
Answer (10.28.08): Some cats learn pretty quickly in about two weeks. However, most cats figure it out in about 8 weeks or so, as long as you are patient and understanding. If your cat is older (above 8 years) or not litter trained, though, it will probably take a bit longer. They have more bad habits to un-learn. Our oldest successfully trained cat so far is Oscar who started when he was 12 years old! And that's not to mention Lucky the 3-legged cat who overcame some obvious issues to become a Litter Kwitter graduate!
Question (10.28.08): Come on, how can Litter Kwitter possibly train my kitty to use a human toilet?
Answer (10.28.08): I know what you're thinking - it's just a gimmick, cats hate water, they'll fall in. Oh ye of little faith. But it is hard to imagine, which is why we put a training DVD in every box so you can see what to do, how to do it, and what your cat should look like while they're learning. But it's not magic - it's science. You have to understand that when cats bury our waste in the litter what we're trying to do is hide the smell of it from predators. In the wild, this behavior was necessary for survival. And you know, we're all just wild animals waiting to pounce. So, what the Litter Kwitter does is slowly modify the cat's behavior until he or she 'does their business' into the toilet and discovers that the water in the toilet pan hides the smell much better than litter. And then the cat's happy - and so is everyone else in the house! This is the understanding behind the science of the Litter Kwitter developed with PhD animal behaviorists (and me, of course!). What about cats hating water
Question (10.28.08): Okay, so maybe it works, but why would I want my cat to use the toilet?
Answer (10.28.08): Oh you humans…..constantly questioning, exploring, and wondering why, why, why! If you were smart like a cat you would just use your nose and immediately understand why – a litter box stinks! And that means Germs. And Mess. And therefore, hassle! Besides the aromatic advantages, I know for a fact that most pet welfare agencies recommend that your cat be kept indoors, not outdoors, (especially at night) and that means you have to respect their toilet rights and help them do their business with dignity.
Question (10.28.08): What are the advantages of having a toilet trained cat?
Answer (10.28.08): You might as well ask "what is the advantage of a toilet trained human?". I know cats look different but their bodies work the same way as humans in the 'Yum to Yuk' process: they eat (yum!), they get energy from digesting the food (to be able to claw the furniture
Question (10.28.08): How do I get started using Litter Kwitter?
Answer (10.28.08): Read the directions and watch the step-by-step training DVD, silly. Then make sure to take away all of the other litter trays from the house. Cats are smart (geniuses, in fact) but we are also creatures of habit so you need to make the Litter Kwitter is the only option around. Show your cat where it is (we may be geniuses but we’re not immune from occasionally becoming confused) and help them up onto the seat so that they know it is safe. Keep the Litter Kwitter disk really clean so it is always ready to go when they are, but don’t use an ammonia-based cleaner because that can make it smell like urine to a cat’s exceptionally sensitive nose
Question (01.21.09): My cat did good and was doing number 1 and number 2 in the red step of the litter kwitter and when it came time, I put the orange (amber) step on and my cat would just pee in it and he wont poop in it! He goes other places to poop! What do I do???
Answer (01.28.09): You have not included a lot of information in your question so I will guess that your cat has lodged a protest against the Amber disc. This step in the training is really where the behaviour modification takes place, it is in fact the transitional step & introduces your cat to two new things. 1) a hole & 2) water in the pan below In your email you mentioned your cat will urinate but not defecate in the Amber disc. This is a common problem, easily solved once understood. We have to understand about cats in the wild to understand what's going on with your cat. Here is the short version: Cats in the wild, when they defecate are very careful because defecation = odour & odour = possible death from predators.( predators can smell the odour) When wild cats defecate they make sure they are safe enough to make a quick escape if they hear a predictor coming to eat them. This instinct is the same in domestic cats. Clearly your cat does not feel he is safe enough to defecate so he goes somewhere where he does feel safe ( usually somewhere that smells of you) Remedy: Try to see the world from your cats perspective.Make sure the bathroom door is left wide open. Make sure the litter is fresh. This is vital because if the litter is not fresh then he will not want to use it because the litter will not "cover his odour". It all stems back to feeling safe. 9/10 cases of protests at this stage are because the litter is not fresh. Below I have added some extra thoughts if you need them Cats hate change, but they love reward(food reward) & praise. Some cats adapt to the Amber disc with ease, others take a little bit of persuasion. This is where the love & praise come in. We recommend a tasty treat to accompany his visits to the bathroom. Reserve these treats only for the task of training. We suggest dried sardines or some other commercially available cat treats. Here is what you can do to remedy your situation.( remember - I've not a lot of information to go on) * Clean up the soiled areas with Urine-Off or other enzymatic cleaners. Do not waste money on any other product as they do not work. * Go back to red stage for 7 days * Offer treats & praise Then: after 7 days on red disc: * introduce the Amber disc again. Only this time place the red disc UNDER the amber disc. This acts as a half step and graduates your cat for the introduction of the amber disc in 2 weeks time. Keep up the reward & praise. * Ensure the LK is kept clean at all times. * Use flushable litter. Never get angry with your cat. Cats do not respond to anger and will only become more stressed. Calmness is the key, reward good behaviour & ignore poor. For more information please visit the Litter Kwitter forum where you can download the newsletter and read many graduates tips & tricks. http://www.litterkwitter.com/forums/showthread.php?t=310
Question (05.14.09): My cat would only use a cat litter with overhead cover . Will he adapt to Litter Kwitter easily ?
Answer (05.14.09): There is no way to give generalized predictions. Every cat is an individual, and their behavioral and emotional reactions to new things varies from cat to cat. Since the Litter Kwitter does not have an overhead cover, it sounds like use might be an issue.
