K&H manufacturing may have re-invented the wheel when it comes to keeping your livestock pond free of ice in the chilly winter with their new Ultimate Stock Tank De-Icer. This de-icer is one of the most versatile de-icers on the market. It can be changed from a floating de-icer to a submersible de-icer in a matter of seconds just by the push of a button! There is also no expensive bulky cage to buy.
All you have to do is simply follow the zone chart recommendation provided on this page to choose the proper de-icer for your location. If your pond is larger than the 1200 gallons simply add another de-icer designed for the additional volume (A 1700 gallon pond in zone 3 will use one 1500 watt model and one 750 watt model).
The chart will also save you money on energy as you will be using only the correct amount of energy to keep your pond free of ice. The K&H Ultimate Stock Tank De-Icer is also automatically regulated to turn off and on when needed (approx. 35 - 45F range) also saving you money on energy.

Question (12.22.08): For 1000 W Ultimate Stock Tank DeIcer how do you switch from float to sink? Does it involve insertion of a plastic float? If so, is this provided?
Answer (12.22.08): The unit comes with the flotation part already attached. To make is submersible, you just unscrew the float. It is very easy to convert.

Answer (01.06.09): The cords are the same length - approximately 5.5 feet. If you need a longer cord, see the Deluxe Pond De-Icers, which have a 12-foot cord.
