The Thermo Pond Perfect Climate Submersible Pond De-Icer is the first pond de-icer designed with all ponds in mind, both small and large.

Submersible (under 300 gallons)
When used as a submersible, the Thermo Pond Perfect Climate Submersible Pond De-Icer is designed to keep open water in ponds up to 300 gallons, 18 inches deep or less. The de-icer is thermostatically controlled and all heating elements are enclosed so they will not harm or burn your pond liner. It also has inlets molded into the design so the heater can be used in tandem with air or water pumps to increase circulation. Thermo Pond Perfect Climate Submersible Pond De-Icer is not designed to be a submersible pond de-icer in ponds larger than 300 gallons.

Floating (300 gallons - 1500 gallons)
Ponds that are over 300 gallons can use the Thermo Pond Perfect Climate as a floating pond de-icer by attaching the optional float shown below (not included with this listing). When using the float attachment, it can be used in ponds up to 1500 gallons.

When backyard ponds ice over, harmful gases from algae, decaying plants, and fish waste cannot escape.When the unit is used as a floating pond de-icer it will keep a hole in the surface ice to help a proper gas exchange take place helping to protect your fish from toxic buildup.

SIMPLE AND RELIABLE

The best time to intall your Thermo-Pond Perfect Climate Submersible Pond De-Icer is before your pond freezes over.

If your pond is already covered with ice, drill a hole with an ice auger and place the Thermo-Pond Perfect Climate over the hole. If you do not have access to an ice auger, place a large pan or bucket of water on the surface of the ice. Place your heater into the container and plug the heater into a properly grounded outlet. The heater will heat the water and container melting a hole in the pond ice. When a hole has been melted, unplug the heater and remove the container. Place the heater through the hole and run the cord to a properly grounded outlet protecting the cord from damage. NOTE: DO NOT CHOP THROUGH ICE IN SMALLER PONDS AS THE SHOCK WAVES CAN DAMAGE OR KILL YOUR FISH!

Leave the Thermo-Pond Perfect Climate in place for the rest of the winter season. After the winter season, wipe down your Thermo-Pond with a damp cloth and store indoors in a clean dry place.

How many heaters do you need?

Use one Thermo-Pond Perfect Climate for every 1,500 gallons of water in your pond if floating, or 350 gallons if submersible.

The formula to determine the number of gallons of water in your pond is length x width x average depth x 7.5. These measurements must be in feet.
Example: A pond that is 6' L x 4' W x 1.5' average depth x 7.5 = 270 gallons
